TABATHA FORBES

Dr Tabatha Forbes DocFA, MFA (Hons)

Tabatha holds a Doctorate in Fine Arts from the University of Auckland.  Her research and art practice is primarily focused on how our natural environments are perceived and valued.  Having lived in the Cook Islands for 6 years her work is influenced by the early European perceptions of the South Pacific, specifically through botanical art and natural history collections.

She currently lives in Opunake, South Taranaki where her and her sculptor husband Chauncey Flay have Forbes & Flay Contemporary Art Studio, showcasing their work and running workshops in botanical art. Her work is regularly exhibited in NZ and Rarotonga (Bergman Gallery) and is held in private collections worldwide.
